Every year, thousands of migrants cross the Mediterranean sea for Europe, in hope of a better life. Many enter via Italy's south. In late 2014, I reported from the island of Pantelleria and Sicily on Europe's migration crisis and resulting border policies, producing an interactive multimedia project (photographs, text, audio, GoPro, camera footage).

But their “ten point action plan” involves more talk about security measures than a commitment to search-and-rescue.
